Tomah Gbelama was working as a Sales Associate at Payless Shoes when she decided she wanted to return to school. "I wanted a career change and a better job. I was not earning enough to catch up with my bills," she expressed.
Tomah was impressed with the school environment and teachers at the campus. She stated, "The faculty and staff were supportive and understanding of any concerns I had. Each classroom was a place where I could excel and achieve my goals."
After completing her externship at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Tomah was thrilled when they offered her not one, but three different full time Medical Assistant positions! "One of the doctors offered me a position at his office. Then I received another offer in the Occupation Health Department, and the ER also wanted me to work for them! I was very excited. I couldn't believe I had three jobs to choose from just from my externship!"
Upon graduation, Tomah accepted the position in the Occupation Health Department and loves it. "I now have a career that I enjoy on a daily basis," she stated. "I give physicals to patients at the hospital and for other companies, such as the local Fire Department, and NJ Transit. I process blood work, perform EKG's, audio and vision tests, drug screenings, vital signs, et cetera.”
Deciding to enroll at the Harris School of Business had changed Tomah's life for the better. "It was a tough decision to go back to school with a family to support, but it has all paid off. Harris School is a great place to achieve a long lasting career in a short period of time."
