Sarah Nickles
After looking into many different programs and schools, Sarah decided to enroll into the Professional Medical Assistant program at the Salter School in Tewksbury, MA. Sarah knew this decision would alter her life and she was worried how she would adjust. She shares, “I was afraid of the change from working full time to going to school. I was nervous about new teachers and new classmates, but once I got into the program, everything felt so much better. The Salter staff and my classmates were wonderful and supported me through the year.” Sarah now works as a Patient Scheduling Coordinator for Alliance Imaging, scheduling Positron Emission Tomography scans for cancer patients. Her daily tasks include speaking with doctors and patients to set up and pre-register them for exams. She also works as an ECG Technician for Heart Screen America. Sarah performs ECGs on children, testing and recording the electrical activity of the heart. She enjoys traveling in and out of state to organized events sponsored by family members who have lost their children due to unknown heart conditions while playing sports. Sarah now has a good paying job with health benefits and believes that going back to school was the best decision she ever made. “Not only did I walk away from the Salter School with an education to be a great Medical Assistant, but I learned laws and regulations that apply to everyday life. Most importantly, I learned that change is the only way to improve your life.” |
