When asked why she pursued a career in massage therapy, Samantha Hudran explained, “I was involved in an accident and the physical therapist I saw used massage as part of my therapy. The results were remarkable. I also wanted to do something to help others.”
Sam decided to enroll in the Massage Therapy program at the Harris School of Business in Dover, DE. “The flexible class schedule was very convenient for my family and the campus was in close proximity to my house,” she said.
It had been ten years since Sam was in a school environment, so she was a little apprehensive about returning, but after a few weeks, she acclimated herself and felt at ease. Sam expressed, “My instructors were very affable and knowledgeable in the field of massage therapy. They took extra steps to ensure everyone understood the material presented. It also helped that many of my fellow classmates were of a similar age.”
During her program, Sam passed the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and after completing half of her clinical training, she applied and received her Certified Massage Technician license! After graduating, she applied to upgrade her license to a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), which she also received.
“I am now a Nationally Certified Licensed Massage Therapist, a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and the proud owner of Samantha Hudran Massage with two locations in Dover, DE. I also perform out-call massages which means I will go to a client’s home to execute the massage. I specialize in Okazaki Restorative Massage, a form of Deep Tissue Massage, and I am also trained in Swedish, Pregnancy, Child and Chair Massage,” Sam said.
Sam enjoys owning her own massage business. “I am now able to live my life on my own schedule. I am my own boss! I have the freedom to come and go as necessary. This is especially helpful with my young family. It doesn’t get any better than that!”
