While channel surfing one morning, a television commercial for Suburban Technical School’s Medical Assistant program caught Natoya Thomas’ eye. “One of my career plans was to get involved in the medical field and I needed schooling that was short term, but thorough,” she expressed.
Natoya had concerns about learning new material, but with the help of Suburban’s faculty and staff, they were quickly alleviated. “My instructors were great at explaining lessons. They were amazingly helpful and considerate. This support made me feel more at ease, therefore I was able to learn better. Everyone had a way of making you feel as though the school was your second home” Natoya stated.
Because of her decision to enroll at Suburban Tech, Natoya was able to find quality employment in her chosen field. “I did my externship at Garden City Ob/Gyn where I was provided with real-world experience before I graduated. At the end, they offered me a Medical Assistant position!” Notaya exclaimed. “I needed and wanted a career, and now I have one. Before I became a Medical Assistant, I was literally living paycheck to paycheck. Now I am able to put money aside and save.”
Natoya recently passed her Registered Medical Assistant Exam and is currently preparing for the Phlebotomy Technical Exam. “I am able to, and looking forward to, obtaining multiple credentials. I am very proud of myself.”
