Evelyn Parziale came to the Medical Assisting program at the Malden Salter School after 20 years working in the food service industry. Her interest in health care stemmed from caring for her husband and mother-in-law who suffered from Diabetes. "My experience giving care made me realize I wanted to work in health care. Medical Assisting was the natural next step."

The first night Evelyn headed to school she turned around and went home with tears in her eyes too afraid to go back. She called her father who assured her she would succeed. Evelyn conquered her fear and went to school! "After my first module I saw I loved learning. I never missed a night of school in 11 months!"

Evelyn now works for the urgent care department at a major Boston health clinic where she loves her work and "the pay!" She looks forward to going to work everyday and considers enrolling at the Salter School the "best decision I ever made." PEG salutes Evelyn’s determination!
